Planning Your Gondola Ride

The Steamboat Gondola is located at 2305 Mount Werner Circle at the base of Steamboat Springs Ski Resort. No matter what season you visit, you can likely take the gondola up to Thunderhead Lodge and enjoy the views along the way.

The gondola ride from the base to mid-mountain/top takes about 8–9 minutes in the winter under normal conditions, with slightly longer times (up to ~12–15 minutes) sometimes reported in summer due to loading/unloading.

The gondola rises roughly about 2,200 feet in elevation and reaches near 9,000 feet above sea level at the upper station, offering expansive views of the surrounding mountains and valley.

During the ski season, the gondola operates every day of the week. In the summer months, you can usually catch a ride up daily June 1 through Labor Day. After Labor Day, the gondola typically operates Friday, Saturday and Sunday through early October.

Summer and Fall gondola rides are free for some Ikon pass holders. Unfortunately, we do not sell tickets for the Gondola. Please contact the Steamboat Resort for information on purchasing tickets, hours and availability.
