Talay Thai and May Thai – two locations from one great family
Talay Thay and Mai Thai are two great Thai restaurants run by the same family in Steamboat Springs. Mai Thai is located downtown at 435 Lincoln Avenue and Talay Thai is on the mountain at 2300 Mount Werner Circle, at the base of the Steamboat Grand. Both feature authentic Thai dishes and the mountain location has a tiki bar. The Sunti family has been serving authentic, traditional Thai cuisine in America for over 30 years. They started with Bahn Thai Restaurant in Seattle in 1982, and now live in Steamboat Springs.

Sumatera offers authentic ‘Ring of Fire’ Pacific Rim Cuisine ranging from the Indonesian Islands, Singapore, Thailand to Japan. Most dishes come in the traditional spicy levels of 1-5, therefore allowing you to take it as hot or not as you want! Sumatera even offers catering and sushi chefs available for private parties. The Yampa River
In the summer, take a leisurely bike ride downtown on the Yampa River Core Trail. You will be amazed at the amount of activities going on with families by the river. During the summer months, the water is a popular place to cool down. The Yampa River hosts an assortment of recreation, such as whitewater rafting, tubing, fishing, kayaking, and stand up paddle boarding. Many companies can guide you in these activities. For the younger kiddos, there are a few parks along the river with a couple wading areas to play in.
Amaze’n Steamboat Family Fun Park
Amaze’n Steamboat Family Fun Park is an all around great time! Play a fun round of Mini Gol, run the Giant Maze and race against the clock in a labyrinth of twists and turns, or test your skills in the Gyro. Try your hand at Gemstone Panning in our authentic sluice where you pan for gems just like the miners used to and keep what you find! In the heat of summer, cool off with Squirt Gun Fun in the maze! Amaze’n Steamboat offers a fun experience that will bring everyone together for a great time. With catering options, an event tent, picnic tables, grills, and fun activities for all ages, there’s everything you need on-site to host your group all day long. Steamboat Ski Resort base area is also great all year round. The first activity is obvious — world clas skiing. However, after working up a sweat and an appetite, head to the base area. This is a great spot for kids and to hang out — with patio space, snow activities, and often live music. Parents can grab food and drink at the many dining establishments and relax along the base in an Adirondack chair while the kids play. The base area also provides activities such as tubing. In the public land areas, Steamboat resort offers sleigh rides, or even snowshoeing. Storm Peak has tons of wonderful beers, like the Gaper Pilsner, our favorite! When wanting to try them all, check our their flights. Four beers for only $10 is a deal we can get behind! The brewery is the perfect social beer hall, with a large bar and conveniently location — right next to How Ya Doin Pizza and Eats, some of the best pizza in the Boat! Storm Peak has all kinds of events, such as potlucks, yoga, ski pole building, sausage fests, and luaus.
Mountain Tap Brewery – 910 Yampa Street – (970) 879-6646
This incredible brewery sits right on Yampa Street! With craft beer and wood fired pizza in a downtown beer hall, this location is great for both beer drinking or a family dinner downtown. Right across the street from the Yampa River, Mountain Tap’s outdoor deck is a great place to hang out and enjoy beer, the sun, and the excitement of downtown Steamboat. Visit on Token Tuesday and receive a $1 token for every beer ordered to give to one of five local non-profits! It’s tough to beat the combination of beer and giving back to the community.
