Opening Day at Steamboat Resort is a highly anticipated event each year from essentially the time the mountain closes. Both locals and visitors alike love opening day for it’s festivities, food, and of course – it’s snow. The kickoff of the season is always a party in itself, almost always happening the Wednesday before Thanksgiving Day.
The Season’s Grand Opening
From the 2022/23 season onward, Steamboat Resort will also be revealing it’s newest additions for the year based on it’s Full Steam Ahead project. The 2022/23 season includes the new Skeeter Ice Rink and the mountain stage. In the upcoming years, we can look forward to new gondolas, lifts, and terrain!
Festivities to Enjoy
The festivities begin at 7:30am and the resort opens at 8:30am. The festivities usually include breakfast in line such as donuts or breakfast burritos and mimosas (yum!). The opening ceremony also often includes gifts for the early birds who make it into line before everyone else! The countdown begins and the ringing of the Champagne Powder Bell fills gondola square, awakening the winter spirit in all of us.
Steamboat Resort also often hides goodies all over the mountain waiting to be discovered by the day’s riders! Stick around for  special performances, speeches, and artists.
