This unique ski area not only hosts the same Champagne Powder, but you can even check out the Olympic ski jumps while you’re ridging the lifts. This is the birth place of so many incredible Olympic Athletes,  therefore providing this ski area has a unique heritage. It is Colorado’s oldest ski area in continuous use, as it was opened in 1915. With the largest natural ski jumping complex in North America, Howelsen Hill offers downhill and cross-country skiing too! In addition, night skiing/riding is available 3 nights a week. Folks can ski Steamboat for free on Sundays.

Backcountry Skiing

The peaks  surrounding Steamboat offer some of the deepest snow in Colorado. With endless miles from Rabbit Ears to Clark, there are a multitude of places to check out backcountry and cross country. However, we absolutely recommend using a guided tour in order to try out the backcountry. Not only will you be further protected in this unique endeavor, but also will get the local’s knowledge.
